Sleepers, Ballast & Fastening Systems
The units of competency covered in this course are:
- TLIS2030 Carry Out Track Ballasting
- TLIS2031 Install Railway Sleepers
- TLIS2034 Install and Repair Rail Fastening Systems
At the successful completion of this course you will be able to:
- Identify and install different types of Rail Fasteners, Anchoring Systems and Sleeper Plates
- Understand the processes involved in installing and repairing rail fastening systems
- Determine the requirements of the allocated job
- Undertake ballast activities
- Prepare for sleeper installation and repair tasks to restore track gauge where required
- Understand the process and demonstrate how to Install and replace sleepers mechanically and manually
- Install rail in accordance with Safeworking and Regulatory requirements
- Identifying job requirements, preparing rail for installation, installing rail, joining rail ends, restoring track and completing relevant documentation.
Course Outcome |
On successful completion of this course you will be awarded a statement of attainment for TLIS2030 Carry Out Track Ballasting, TLIS2031 Install Railway Sleepers and TLIS2034 Install and Repair Rail Fastening Systems |
