Track Geometry & Infrastructure Inspection

The units of competency covered in this course are:

• TLIB2091 Measure and Record Track Geometry
• TLIB3099 Examine Track infrastructure
• TLIB3100 Visually Inspect Track Infrastructure

At the successful completion of this course you will be able to:

• Identify when and how track inspections should be carried out
• Conduct visual examinations of track and right of way infrastructure
• Use appropriate equipment to measure track geometry
• Record track geometry measurments
• Compare recorded measurements with applicable tolerances to identify defects or deficiencies which could affect train safety
• Take appropriate action to safeguard the operation of the rail system when defects or deficiencies are identified
• Report on the condition of the track and right of way infrastructure, including identified defects or deficiencies and priorities for their repair.
