The units of competency covered in this course are:
- TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor
- TLIW0007 Operate under Track Protection Rules
At the completion of this course participants will be able to:
- State the legislation applicable to working in the rail reserve
- Identify the rules and regulations in relation to Drugs and Alcohol
- Describe the appropriate safety clothing that must be worn
- Identify the rail reserve and the danger zone
- Identify various types of train running systems
- Identify a range of terminology associated with the rail industry
- Understand the signals used and their uses
- Describe conditions for working in the rail reserve
- Conduct a basic risk analysis that identifies a number of hazards and risks
- Demonstrate a number of essential hand signals used in the rail industry
- Explain the requirements for reporting unsafe or dangerous situations
- Explain basic emergency procedures
- Identify the significant information in a pre-work briefing
- Identify basic apparatus installed for the electrical rail infrastructure
- Explain a number of key hazards or risks associated with electrical equipment, cables or wires
- Access and interpret information about track protection requirements
- Identify how to respond appropriately to abnormal situations in relation to track protection rules.
The card is valid for two (2) years from the date of issue and is accepted on the following networks:
- Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC)
- Metro (MTM) – Victoria
- V / Line – Victoria
