The unit of competency covered in this course is:

• TLIW0006 Heat and Cut Materials using Oxy-LPG Equipment for the Rail Industry

At the successful completion of this course you will be able to:

• Understand the regulations relating to heating and cutting materials using oxy-LPG equipment
• Understand the relevant OH&S and environmental protection procedures and guidelines
• Identify any problems or hazards that can occur and the action to be taken to resolve the problem and controlling the risk
• Plan and prepare to carry out oxy/LPG cutting and heating
• Set up and test oxy/LPG cutting and heating equipment
• Heat and cut materials using oxy/LPG equipment
• Shut down oxy/LPG equipment
• Complete clean-up activities after oxy/LPG cutting and heating, including correct storage of materials and relevant waste management
• Complete all required documentation in relation to heating and cutting activities.
